Common Uses: This medicine is an antidepressant used to treat
depression. It may also be used to treat other conditions as determined by
your doctor. This medicine works to help balance specific natural substances
in the brain called neurotransmitters. When out of balance these substances
are thought to be associated with the symptoms of depression.
How to use this Wellbutrin Medicine: Follow the directions for using this
medicine provided by your doctor. THIS MEDICINE COMES WITH A PATIENT
INFORMATION LEAFLET. Read it carefully. Ask your doctor, nurse, or
pharmacist any questions that you may have about this medicine. SWALLOW
WHOLE. Do not crush or chew before swallowing. THIS MEDICINE MAY BE TAKEN
WITH FOOD if it upsets your stomach. STORE THIS MEDICINE in a tightly-closed
container at room temperature below 77 degrees F (25 degrees C), away from
heat and light. CONTINUE TO TAKE THIS MEDICINE even if you feel better. Do
not miss any doses. IF YOU MISS A DOSE OF THIS MEDICINE, take it as soon as
possible. If you are taking 2 doses a day and it is less than 8 hours until
your next dose, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing
schedule. Do not take 2 doses at once.
Wellbutrin Cautions: DO NOT TAKE THIS MEDICINE if you have had an allergic
reaction to it or are allergic to any ingredient in this product. SEVERAL
WEEKS MAY PASS before your condition improves. Continue to use this medicine
for the full time recommended by your doctor. Do not stop taking this
medicine without talking to your doctor. KEEP ALL DOCTOR AND LABORATORY
APPOINTMENTS while you are taking this medicine. THIS MEDICINE MAY CAUSE
DIZZINESS. DO NOT DRIVE, OPERATE MACHINERY, OR DO ANYTHING ELSE THAT COULD
BE DANGEROUS until you know how you react to this medicine. Using this
medicine alone, with other medicines, or with alcohol may lessen your
ability to drive or to perform other potentially dangerous tasks. DO NOT
EXCEED THE RECOMMENDED DOSE of bupropion; doing so will increase your risk
of having a seizure. BEFORE YOU BEGIN TAKING ANY NEW MEDICINE, either
prescription or over-the-counter, check with your doctor or pharmacist.
Limit or avoid consumption of alcoholic beverages; alcohol can increase your
risk of seizures. Chronic alcohol users who suddenly stop the intake of
alcohol while taking this medicine may increase the risk of having seizures.
FOR WOMEN: THIS MEDICINE IS EXCRETED IN BREAST MILK. DO NOT BREAST-FEED
while taking this medicine.
Wellbutrin Possible Side Effects: SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during
treatment, include restlessness, agitation, dizziness, dry mouth, difficulty
sleeping, headache, nausea, vomiting, constipation, change in weight, or
tremor. If they continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. CHECK
WITH YOUR DOCTOR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE if you experience mental/mood changes
or palpitations. CONTACT YOUR DOCTOR IMMEDIATELY if you experience seizures.
IF YOU EXPERIENCE difficulty breathing; tightness of chest; swelling of
eyelids, face, or lips; or if you develop a rash or hives tell your doctor
immediately. Do not take any more doses of this medicine unless your doctor
tells you to do so. If you notice other effects not listed above, contact
your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist.
